We took Jackson in for my son's friend as her dad was moving far away and could not find a home for him. We did not want to see this nice older dog going to a shelter after having the same family for 8 years. He is house trained and does not use a crate. He loves to bark to let you know someone is coming to the house. While we have read that chows can be aggressive, he does not appear aggressive but there have been a couple of times in which he turns his head like he could. He is loving and good company. He only gets active when there are many teens in the house at once. We were told that he was bit on a leg by another dog when he was a puppy. We were also told that he gets very active/excited around young children. However, he got pretty excited when our adult son came home for a visit, running every in circles and trying to get our son to play with his toy. Common commands of sit and down also with hand movements that are commonly used. Has chow blue/black tongue. Loves to clean his paws as seen in photo.
