About Sarge

Welcome to Rescue SARGE! He is a 3-year-old, 10 pound, Chihuahua mix with a cute little toothy grin. Sarge is funny, affectionate, playful, and entertaining. He came into our rescue because his owners didn't want him so he was not living in the best of conditions. His foster family can't understand why because he is absolutely adorable and smart. He has learned the concept of waiting to potty outside but may need to adjust to the schedule of his adoptive family. He stays in the house with potty pads while his foster family is at work and has very few accidents now. He is in a home with 3 female and 1 male chihuahua mix dogs and enjoys their company. In the beginning, Sarge needed some assurance with sounds and certain day to day home activity. He would whine and run from the sound of a shower or whine and bark at the sound of cars/noise outside the window. His foster family helped him adjust and ignore those kinds of sounds by calling him over and distracting him. He does have anxiety about thunder and his foster is working on this but he will need a family who understands this kind of anxiety. He will bark, whine, and pace the house with even the slightest sound of thunder (probably fireworks too). He does not do well with cats and has not been kid tested. His previous family had children from what we understand. It took Sarge some time to adjust to his foster family leaving the house. Now, he just hangs out with his fur buddies on the sofa or on a bed with his crocodile toy or pink Kong while his foster leaves. He has been neutered, vetted, and is Heartworm negative. Sarge loves lap time when his foster sits to watch TV and loves to snuggle in bed with his foster family and fur buddies. Sarge is such a precious little guy! If you want an entertaining and faithful fur buddy, he is the one! He will shower you with love and kisses
