About Roadie (west)

ROADIE - A4221781 Roadie is a 5 year old female Brindle Rhodesian Ridgeback/American Pit Bull Terrier mix. She weighs 50+ lbs, and was found as a stray. She has been at the shelter since Mar 3, 2019. She presents as very aggressive in kennel, growling and barking, but she takes treats very gently through the bars. She allowed me to enter the kennel, and she stayed on her Kuranda bed. She continued to take treats gently, but would growl and bark any time I was not giving her a treat. She did not seem safe to attempt to pet, as she was already uncomfortable with my presence. After considerable time and work with several volunteers, it is clear that Roadie is going to need more work to become sociable. Progress is slow, but there has been progress. It will take someone with a lot of patience and persistence to bring her around. She is quite a beautiful animal, and it would be a shame to have to put her down. Unless an outlet is found very soon for Roadie, she will not leave the shelter alive. UPDATE 06/19/19: It has taken over a month of work to bring her around. She now walks well on the leash and has become playful and affiliative with people. She is a pittie/ridgeback mix and has gorgeous brindle coloring. She is a nice smaller size as well.
