About Sky

Sky is a 1 yr old spayed female Australian Cattle Dog. Sky has had all of her shots. She was also tested for Heart Worm disease and the results were negative. She has been put on heart worm preventative meds. She has no health issues that I know of. Sky was rescued from a shelter and had been there for 7 months. She is shy and takes awhile to become comfortable in new surroundings, but she is a total love bug once she knows you are nice to her. She has become use to being in the house but she still likes her own 'safe place' to go to. She likes having her bed and toys in her own place where she can go rest and sleep. She is good outside and does not bark to come in, but she likes being inside with her humans and to sleep inside. Sky is not food aggressive and you can put your hands in her bowl when she is eating. A lot has changed with Sky since I first posted her adoption ad. Sky use to not like one of the other dogs here who is very energetic and pounced when she played; Sky did not like that. Now sky has learned to play and tumble around and she is the one who does not get tired of playing. Once Sky got use to us and the other dogs, she is not the skittish pup she was. She now loves to dog play and is no longer afraid of everything around her. Sky does need some training. She is so happy to see you and to be loved, that she does jump up on you. But now I can tell her 'down' and hold out my hand and she will stop jumping up. She will sit if you tell her to, and she will lay beside you quitely now, whereas she use to not sit still. With a little more training I'm sure she will catch on quickly. She is 'food motivated' so teaching her with food reward works well for her. She use to hate a leash but it getting use to it now. She still pulls but if you tell her to stop and sit, she will. Sky needs room to run and play and something to do. She can entertain herself with her toys but she would rather be running and playing with her humans. She loves her stuffed toys, and she loves playing ball and frisbie. She is a high energy breed, and would do best if she had something to do and area to run. If you think you might be Sky's forever family, you can meet Sky by emailing or calling me.
