About Boy George

Boy George is a 4 year old male Chihuahua mix. He weighs about 10 pounds. Boy George has been with Smidget Rescue for about 3 years. He came up from a CA shelter so terrified and defensive that the shelter thought he was female. Georgina quickly became Boy George because of the gender misunderstanding! :) Once we figured out his gender, we went to work on teaching him to trust humans. This cute little guy absolutely loves attention and cuddles, but on his own terms. While he dislikes being picked up, Boy George will run up a ramp or stairs to join you on a couch or bed. His favorite sleeping spot is under the covers next to his human. His foster mom notes that having Boy George is like having a tiny shadow following her around the house. He is beginning to trust people enough to walk on a leash in controlled situations, but is easily frightened by sudden noises and prefers to be a homebody. We are looking for exactly the right forever home for this little guy. Boy George has a list of wishes: A confident and playful female dog. Humans who will let him come to them in his own time rather than force contact. No children. Cats are not to be trusted, in his opinion, so he will bark at them. A house with a secure yard and a dog door. Humans who will continue with his potty training and be patient with accidents. Stairs/ramps to couches and beds so he can come to cuddle. He has come a long way and is ready for a family all his own. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
