About JJ

ADOPTION PENDING Meet JJ This little dog named JJ, has stolen our hearts. And, we think once you meet her she'll steal yours as well. JJ was found scared, alone, and emaciated in a rough part of town and turned into Animal Control. JJ appeared to be a new mother, but with no puppies around, we're not sure what happened to them or to JJ that she found herself begging for help from strangers. But that fateful day in a parking lot turned JJ's luck around. With no one looking for this tiny, sweet and oh so scared dog, we were able to pull JJ from AC on March 22, 2019 and bring her under the protection our shelter where she's receiving the care and love she deserves. JJ is a gorgeous fawn-colored terrier mix with beautiful amber colored eyes. She is thought to be about two years old. Right now she is severely underweight at 25 pounds, but given her frame, she should be more like 30-35 pounds. We're working to bring her weight up. She is as sweet as she can be. She loves the attention of people and loves snuggling with them. She plays well with other dogs. We have not yet cat tested her, but will do so for potential adopters. In a short amount of time JJ has been through so much. She birthed puppies, lost puppies, was dumped in a parking lot, taken to Animal Control which is a scary place for a little dog, she was spayed and vaccinated, found heartworm negative and then taken to a foster home of strangers. Through it all JJ has been so brave and so sweet and such a trooper. To help her recover and recuperate fully, JJ is being fostered offsite. When she first arrived at her foster family, she was tired and seemingly depressed, most likely completely exhausted after all she'd been through. However, she is now starting to blossom and show her playful side. She has a new doggie companion that she loves. Per her fommy, the dogs play and wrestle and then they snuggle and fall asleep on the same dog bed. She has a hearty appetite and appears to be housetrained with impeccable manners. She walks well on a leash and enjoys getting outside. JJ is one adorable dog with a zest for life and love. If you'd like to meet JJ, please call our office at 706-865-4135 to make an appointment. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Closed Mondays
