About Hero

Hero was brought in as a stray and was never claimed. He is a Border Collie mix we believe and he is deaf. He has an awesome personality with a quirk. For some reason he attacks his tail on a fairly regular basis. We believe he was probably severely abused in his prior situation. He ducks his head when you go to pet him and is skittish with new people. He is terrified of being on a leash. He LOVES toys - it is like a kid in a candy store once he discovered toys. Amazingly he is housebroken and crate trained. Because of his going after his tail violently we will not adopt him into a home with smaller children - there is too much risk for that. We also would recommend he be the only dog in the home. A fenced in yard is going to be necessary because of his fear of leashes. We know this is asking a lot but it is the only way we can assure his safety and the safety of anyone adopting him. We have been working with him on hand signals and he is doing very well. He is a smart dog and will learn with patience and love. His adoption fee will be $150.00 to help cover some of his medical costs. He is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm tested and micro-chipped.
