About Max and Boots

Adoption Fee: $295 per
Papillon / Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Max and Boots Papillion and Chihuahua Mixes 4 and 8 yrs old Bonded Pair 8 and 13 lbs. Meet Max and Boots! This dynamic little duo come together and must be adopted as a pair. They were surrendered to the high kill shelter in TN because their owner died and they had nowhere to go. While they have been here in foster, they have not left each other's sides and Boots seems to be stressed when his brother is not around. Max is approximately 4 years old and we thinks he is a Papillion Chihuahua Mix. He weighs approximately 8 lbs. He is a cute little dude who has a condition called Alopecia X. Basically- this means he is missing a patch of black hair on his back. He is otherwise healthy and our vets have told us that he will need some sunscreen and a possible t-shirt in the summer sun to keep his skin protected. Max enjoys being outside and likes to take walks. Boots (who is affectionately called Ol' Man by his foster mom) is around 8 years old. We think he is some sort of Chihuahua mix (maybe some Shih Tzu). He weighs about 13 lbs. though it certainly wouldn't be bad for him to go on a little diet. Boots came to us with very poor teeth conditions and didn't have many teeth left when he arrived. We got him a dental with our vets and when all was said and done- he's left with 1 tooth. We just think it gives him a bit of character. He eats wet food fine and will even eat the dry food (he just swallows it whole). Boots is not as active as his younger brother, but he does enjoy a short walk. Max and Boots are very affectionate both with humans and with each other. They sleep together every night. They also enjoy time away from each other, as long as the other brother is near. Max enjoys chewing on dental chews and playing with toys. Boots enjoys licking his toys, hoarding them in his bed, and the occasional romp and wrestle with his brother. Max and Boots would most likely do best in a home without other dogs as they are very bonded to each other. They have not been around cats or kids. We are recommending children older than 10 yrs old. We are confident that we can find a home for these 2 sweethearts together where they will have a lap to cuddle in, toys to play with, and walks to take! Our standard adoption fee is $295 per dog- cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
