About Birdie

Adoption Fee: $325
Chihuahua mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Birdie is a beautiful, spayed, very calm, female Chihuahua mix we rescued from death row at Downey shelter. Birdie was brought to the shelter along with her brother, another Chihuahua, by her owner's family after her owner was hospitalized. When their owner was released from the hospital, he went back to the shelter to only claim Birdie's brother and left Birdie alone in the shelter. Birdie was by herself for a week at Downey shelter while everyone waited for her owner to come back and claim her. After 7 days, we could not let Birdie spend one more minute in there alone and we rescued her, giving her a new name and fresh start to life where our promise to her is that she will from now on, always be loved. In the time she has been at her fosters, Birdie has truly come out of her shell and has proven to be an incredibly sweet and loving girl. Birdie is being fostered with a young child and other dogs and is doing great with both. As Birdie lived her life with her brother and is currently being fostered with other dogs as well, we believe Birdie would do best in a home with another dog(s) as she is much more relaxed and confident. She learned the ropes quite quickly on potty training. At first, Birdie had no idea what a leash was or how to walk on it, now Birdie gets excited when the leash comes out and loves walks. Birdie still is shy and timid but loves to be held and will crawl right into your lap for cuddles. It doesn't get any sweeter than sweet Birdie.
