Meet Ellie! She is a six-year-old female Chihuahua Dachshund mix (Chiweenie!) who weighs 11 pounds. Ellie was surrendered to us by her owner who could no longer care for her. She is a real sweetheart and a true blonde Beauty. Ellie is friendly with other dogs and has an absolutely wonderful personality. She has not been tested with cats or children yet but, given her temperament, would probably be OK with children, especially if they were a little older. She loves to sit outside in the yard and enjoy the sunshine. She was recently spayed, is up-to-date on her shots and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Ellie tested positive for heartworms and is currently undergoing treatment. The adopter must agree to continue with the treatment which is very simple and inexpensive. We recommend the slow kill treatment which requires an Advantage Multi treatment once every month. This will gradually eliminate the existing heartworms and will prevent any new ones from developing. The rescue will pay for retesting every 6 months, or until she tests negative. In our experience, this is usually within a 6 month period. Ellie deserves a second chance at being a beloved pet. Will you step up and rescue her?
