About Thor

THOR - A Handsome, Strong, and Loyal German Shepherd Can a name 'fit' a dog? We think so in Thor's case. He is a handsomely rugged pure bred adult German Shepherd dog. Thor has a strong personality and lots of energy. Thor enjoys the outdoors, especially going on hikes or even better a nice fenced in backyard to fetch and just have a fun time. Thor is very friendly and loyal to the volunteers at Sedona Shepherd. While in our care and at our facility, Thor is comfortable greeting new people, and generally will ignore well mannered large dogs. We keep Thor well socialized and he is comfortable meeting new adults and older children. In his prior home, after settling in nicely, Thor did become protective of the household and needed to be properly introduced to visitors. Once proper introductions are made Thor will accept visitors into a home, especially if they want to play fetch with him. Thor can walk nicely on a leash, though he is strong and when starting out likes to pull. Generally, if another dog ignores Thor, he will do the same. Thor will flourish in a home with no other animals and an experienced German Shepherd owner. He is trustworthy in a house, smart, well trained and is looking to bond with his new best friend. We estimate Thor to be about 7 years old. Because Thor did have a bite incident two years ago when a contractor was visiting his home, he will be adopted out on a bite contract. At this time we are looking for a foster to adopt situation with Thor. He has developed an allergy and anti-resistant infection in his ear canal. Thor will be having an ear ablation surgery on his left ear, covered fully by Sedona Shepherd and our wonderful donors. PLEASE NOTE: Any foster/adopter MUST have prior German Shepherd experience, must live either in New Jersey, eastern PA or Southern NJ and have no other animals in the house. We will not respond to any inquires that do not meet the above requirements. Thor is an amazing dog who needs to be in the best environment for him.
