About Melody D

Meet Melody, such a sweet girl that would love to find her way into your heart! She's a 10 year old Japanese Spitz mix that weighs about 20 lbs. She came from a shelter after being found as a stray but was never claimed. She was so filthy and flea infested you could hardly tell what color she was. She had such a sad look on her face when she came to us. It was obvious she had not had a happy life and it broke our hearts to think of what she had been through to get to this point. We are so pleased to say that she is beginning to open up as she realizes she is now loved and will be taken care of. Melody is with other dogs of different sizes in the foster home and does fine around them. She is happy to hang out and socialize but she doesn't play with them. She also does great with cats. She's very calm and quiet. Melody does like to be loved on and as time goes on and she feels more and more secure, we think she will be become very attached and loving toward her person. She is starting to play a little with her foster mom, which is really nice to see! She loves going on walks and does well on leash. She sleeps in her bed at night, goes outside to do her business and she doesn't bark, so she's pretty much the perfect dog! Melody is Heartworm positive. Treatment is simple and inexpensive and all that is required is an Advantage Multi preventative treatment every month, which is the same monthly preventative you would give to a healthy dog. The adopter must agree to continue treatment and the rescue will pay for retesting after 6 months, or until the test is negative. This sweet baby deserves a second chance at a wonderful life.
