About BLOSSOM

Pit Bull / American Bulldog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

A5172487 Blossom is an exuberant 2-year-old cookies-and-cream colored, spayed female Pit Bull and American Bulldog mix who was surrendered to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center for no stated reason on September 14th, and now transferred to Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary. Weighing 53 lbs, Blossom is a loving leaner with joyful energy. This active girl needs training, including on-leash, and daily exercise to harness her high spirits, but will make a fantastic running buddy for an athletic home. When she's tired out, she happily cuddles up on a lap for some loving. She needs to be an only dog for now, though with socialization, she could do well with a friend. This freckled sweetheart would be perfect for someone with big dog experience who will offer her a fun and active forever home. From volunteer Glenn - I'm really starting to worry about this girl. She's one of the most enjoyable dogs I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and unfortunately she's not found her furever home since September! At the risk of seeming superficial, I must say she is the softest, cleanest, and (one of the) prettiest pups at BP....every time I take her out, it's as if she's just come from the groomers instead of a tiny cage with no doggie toilet. This actually suggests a levelheadedness and self-awareness that many dogs tend to lose as their stay draws out as long as hers has: she's just as desperate to get out as the next dog, but collected enough to keep herself and her 'condo' immaculate like the proper lady she is! In the yard, Blossom is pure joy wrapped in velvet. She frolics, she chases, she leans against you, and she rolls around, asking for belly rubs. Best of all, she is attentive to you: when you want to play, she brings her puppy charm and excitement, and when you're ready to settle down, she'll be there by your side, pressed against you. Give her a lap, and she'll be happy to curl up in it. She's pretty much perfect, except when it comes to interacting with other dogs. Not to say she won't be capable of socializing with dogs in the future, given the right environment and training, but for now she'd prefer to be the only dog in the pack. I've been socializing with Blossom for months now, and she is one of the ones I'm thinking about every time I make that trip to the shelter. EVERY dog deserves a chance at a happy life with the perfect pack because all of them are, in one way or another, victims of circumstances caused by the failures of people. Blossom just makes it so easy to remember WHY every dog deserves every effort: the fundamental value in the dog-human bond is just so painfully clear whenever I interact with her, and it is staggering.
