This super sweet senior is Krystal. She is a 10 year old Maltese who weighs 7 pounds. Krystal came to us from a hoarding situation and has not been used to a lot of human interaction. She loves to be held but she sometimes shies away when you bend down to pet her or pick her up, as if she isn't sure what's going to happen next! She gets along great with the other dogs in the foster home and she loves to groom them! She can be shy at first with new people but, once she settles, she bonds quite quickly and will soon be prancing all over the house while happily wagging her tail! Krystal has not been tested with cats. She enjoys being petted and likes to be close to her people when relaxing or in bed with them at night. She's very attentive to her person and will also follow you round the house to stay close to you. She seems to be housebroken and hasn't had any accidents in the house to date. She will use a training pad inside the house if she doesn't have access to go outside. She enjoys chilling on the sofa with her person and snuggling in your lap. She likes to rest her head on you and then just look up at you with her big brown eyes! It's very sweet! Krystal is Heartworm positive and while that may sound ominous, treatment is simple and inexpensive. We support the slow kill method which takes about 6 months to safely eliminate all the live heartworms. All that is required is an Advantage Multi preventative treatment every month, which is the same monthly preventative you would give to a healthy dog. The adopter must agree to continue treatment and the rescue will pay for retesting after 6 months, or until the test is negative. Since Krystal is a senior, she would do best in a quiet home where there is somebody around most of the time. She should not be in a home with small children but will do fine with older children. Due to her shyness around people and noisy situations, she would not do well at our normal Saturday adoption event so, if you think Krystal would be perfect to complete your family, why not submit an application and set up a meet and greet with her? She's waiting!
Applicants must live with in a two hour drive of Pensacola, FL. to even be considered.
