About European Starling

European Starling named Buttercup who fell from nest at 12 days old and was paralyzed on one side. Brought him home to die in peace but over the next 3 weeks he made a full recovery. Imprinted on humans, he couldn't be released. He talks and says funny things including 'gimme kiss MWAH!' and 'I love you' as well as 'mommy loves Buttercup' 'you're such a sweet bird' 'you're so cute'. And what's really funny is that he'll mix the phrases up in hilarious ways. He's said things like 'your butter's so pretty' and 'what a cute kiss' lol. The list goes on. Buttercup needs: 1. Daily human interaction (playing in your lap or sitting on shoulder, must wear safety glasses as he seems to think eyeballs are toys, fortunately my eye wasn't permanently damaged but it was an excrutiating recovery I don't wish to repeat.) 2. A bird mom or dad that is 50 yrs or less with no life-threatening health issues since he will live about 20 years, sometimes more. 3. To be monitored when it comes to interaction with other birds since he is so imprinted on humans he thinks they are his 'flock'. 4. An unusual diet for a bird consisting of a mixture of soaked dog food, chicken mash, hard-boiled eggs w/ applesauce. I freeze it in small portions and thaw a portion each day on the countertop.
