About Abby

Meet Abby! This beautiful little girl is a 5 month old female Border Collie Lab mix. She is on the smaller side and we expect her to be in the 40 to 50 lb range when she gets older. Abby was picked up as a stray by animal control and when our sister shelter found her she was in pretty bad shape. The lower photo in her collage is when they first got her. She was absolutely terrified. She was hiding in a dog igloo and she would not even come out. At first they thought that she had mange but as it turns out she was just so stressed out from being at the shelter that she was loosing all her hair. Once she was in foster care it started to grow back right away and her coat is now beautiful. We are not sure if this sweet little girl was abused or just undersocialized but she is very shy. She has really come around in foster care and is very snuggly with her foster mom, but she will need a family who has a lot of patience and is willing to work with her. She needs a lot of socialization work, however she is very very sweet. She loves to snuggle and even when she is scared she DOES NOT growl or try to bite. She loves her doggie friends in foster care and we feel like a confident doggie sibling would be a great thing for her. She loves to romp and play with them during the day, and snuggle up with them at night. She would do really well with calm kids who are patient with her. She loves to play and is full of puppy energy. She would make a great addition to a calmer family who still has an active lifestyle! We do not know where this little girl came from but we know she has been through a lot. We are really hoping to find her an amazing forever family to make up for her past. She is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. She can't wait to find her forever home!
