BROOD adopts to applicants living in VA, WV, MD, PA, DE and DC. Sammy's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJm5VTGqjHs&feature=youtu.be My name is Sammy and I am a sweet old soul. I'm probably around 8 or so and a bit more Beagle than Basset. I was found as a stray in West Virginia and the nice shelter folks were able to locate my family but they never came to get me. I guess they just didn't want me anymore. I quickly became a favorite of the staff there due to my quiet, calm, laid back nature and they were all very sad to see me go. But happy for me too as they know I am on my way to find a forever home with a loving family. I am house trained, crate trained and can even use a doggie door. I'm a quiet guy and usually don't have much to say other than an occasional howl when my foster family comes home. I am well behaved on walks but honestly I'd rather be home curled up on some blankets or clothes in a big warm pile. I sleep quietly through the night and am often am the last in family to wake up in the morning. I do a little yoga, a few downward dogs to work out all the kinks, and then make my way out to the yard to face the day. I was very timid and shy when I first came to my foster home, my foster family thinks I must have had a hard and lonely prior life. But I am starting to come out of my shell and learning to trust people again. I love to snuggle with my people and will even steal my foster mom's spot on the sofa while I'm waiting for her to come back. I get along with all the dogs and people I meet and even the cats in the shelter didn't bother me. I would be ok as an only dog but wouldn't say no to a laid back canine companion that enjoys napping as much as I do. I think you should also know that I suffer from a chronic nasal condition that is being controlled with medication. BROOD has taken great care of me and I am doing fine now. BROOD will pay for my nasal medication for a year after adoption. I would love a low key, quiet household with a family that is kind, patient and full of love. My previous owners weren't very nice to me and it will take a lot of tenderness to make me feel safe. If you have some love to give and room in your heart for me, please contact BROOD today! My adoption fee is $150. **Only BROOD approved adopters can meet a dog. The adoption application is on the BROOD website. We require a home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog 1/12/2019 good with dogs children basset/beagle
