About Jax

Say hello to Jax! He is a gentle, sweet Yorkie mix who came to us from a local shelter after he was found as a stray and nobody claimed him. He is 8 years old and weighs 15.5 pounds. Jax is such a sweet boy you just want to hug him. He was recently adopted but returned through no fault of his own. He is quiet and laid back and he gets along great with the other dogs at the foster home. He hasn't been tested with cats but he has been tested with kids. He did great with the 7 and older ones but was unsure around the toddler (1 and a half) so probably not a good fit for very young kids. As you can see from his description with his foster mom, he is quiet and gentle and not aggressive in any situation that we have subjected him to so far. He enjoys getting a bath and will just sit and soak up the brush strokes while you are grooming him. He enjoys his spa treatments so much he will even offer his paw so you can trim his nails! Jax is happy to sleep anywhere. While he has been in our care he has slept in the big bed with his foster, in a dog bed at night in a room with the other dogs in the foster home and in a crate with the door closed. He actually likes to nap in his crate during the daytime. He is very loving with his person and is pretty much a lap dog. He does interact with the other dogs but he does not run and play with them.He prefers to stay close to his person. Jax walks well on a leash and harness and he knows his name and comes when called. He is housebroken although he has marked in his most recent foster home at night when he is not supervised. Using a belly band or letting him sleep in a closed crate will allay any fears of that happening during his transition period. Jax is such a good all round sweet dog and we know he will make somebody a great companion.
