MARA (BE A GOLDEN ONE)- 5 year-old 15.2hh Standardbred gelding - all-around riding or driving horse - for advanced/experienced person. Be A Golden One (Mara) is full of personality, very vocal with high energy. He wasn't cut out to be a racehorse as he hits himself too much when trotting at racing speed, and therefore would not be a fit for barrel racing. Mara can trot all day long and never gets tired. Mara currently lives outside 24/7 with another horse and shed. He can be bossy with other horses. Mara is good to drive and making good progress under saddle since starting in October 2018. He is similar to Gleason, Sierra or Gem: high energy and all work with an awesome personality. If you like Speedwell, Mara is just a taller version. When racing, Mara was perfectly well-behaved with excellent manners at the track. In his current environment, he usually moves around a lot on crossties, but doesn't break them. Mara loves attention and is easy to catch in the field, but needs an experienced handler; not for a timid person. He gets bored easily and loves to work. Available for $350 to an approved home with contract with a minimum 60 day trial period. Adopter must be located within an eight (8) hour drive of Howell, NJ OR the Lexington, Kentucky area.
