[Read About Natural Seizure Care] This 6.5 pound female Chihuahua age 4 is located in Brevard County, Melbourne Florida. I've had her since July of 2018. This is a long post that contains important information about this dog . Sookie is special needs. She has a terribly sad story. She was 4.5 pounds she is now 6.5 . I had to make her a little house that only she can fit in to eat her food otherwise my other dog will take it all she is a submissive dog so on to her story.... A young, married couple bought her as a puppy from a reputable breeder. I do not have any paperwork on her. Sadly, the woman got sick with cancer and later died but while she was sick , Sookie stayed in her bed with her 24 hours a day. The woman's husband would take the little dog and throw her in a dark laundry room and leave her there. She would scratch at the door and Desperation trying to get back to her sick mom . But the man ignored her and left her in the laundry room for days at a time and now was where she stayed. After the woman died, the man got a new girlfriend and brought little Sookie to a rescuer when The Rescuer got her her nails were in Grown into the little pads of her feet. She was terribly thin, very skittish and extremely depressed. All she wanted to do was laying a pile of dirty laundry in the laundry room in the dark by herself. The woman had quite a few dogs and did not get any medical care for sippy but she did manage to trim her nails back and feed her and try to socialize her and give her love. A month later I ended up getting Sookie. She was very wary of me initially very shy & cowered at the back of her cage. It took her a few days and when she finally came out and knew she could trust me and was in a safe place, she bonded with me. Immediately we became Inseparable she didn't want anything to do with anyone else only wanted to snuggle under the covers and be at my side 24 hours a day. Perhaps in her mind it was like reverting to the safe place she had with her mom. I brought her to the vet got her shots and to my dismay she had an allergic reaction and shortly thereafter had her first seizure. She has seizures once or twice a month she is 4 years old she has Recently been put on medication for her seizures. She does take medication every 8 hours. She needs a quiet home with a single woman. I've spent thousands of dollars on Sookies care to bring her to Good Health she has had all her vaccines, she's been spayed, her uterus has been removed, she has had one of her anal glands excavated. She does need a dental but I cannot afford that. All of this has been done just since I got her in July of this year. She's doing very well and has gained weight quite nicely she has acclimated it to my other dog and my cat Though she does Chase the cat once in awhile. She has a dog door where she can easily access the outside although we did have to do some training with puppy pads for a short time when she came here. She has no interest in playing with any kind of toys she is not a playful dog at all although she will be extremely animated and vocal when you leave and come back in due to her separation anxiety we have been working on her barking when people knock at the door I use a spray bottle with water for correction. She will have some difficult transitioning when going to a new home it will take time and patience and most likely puppy pad training For a short time to get her to Baseline. I suspect that she was abused by her male owner she has a dislike of men. She does have to have a fenced yard since she becomes extremely agitated when seeing cars or people walking by and will chase them she actually tried to bite the tires of a moving vehicle. She does walk very well on a leash so you will have to give her a hug if she starts spinning in circles barking excessively at someone or something passing by . She can never be off leash. If she is off leash she will most likely get hit by a car .She just needs a patient, experience owner who will correct these negative behaviors. She's very calm and normal when she has a controlled and quiet environment. Aside from the seizures, she's healthy. I am not experienced with Chihuahuas and she is my first . She has been well cared for and all her Veterinary records are at Aloha Animal Hospital. She's a very sweet, loving but slightly neurotic dog with lots of insecurities who is not fond of men. But she does need a very special home and as I stated she would do best in a quiet home with a single woman. Do you have room in your home, heart and finances for Sookie? Please consider this sweet little dog for your next forever pet.
