About Charlotte

We adopted Charlotte when she was 10 weeks from a large cattle farm in Indiana. She was born in December 2016. We lived on 7 acres and she was intended to be a LGD to our poultry (which didn't quite work out). For the most part she was an outside dog (her preference) . She has gotten better with kids as she's matured. She continues to be too rough with our oldest, but that's mostly due to him exciting her. She's gentle with our 2 and 4yo. Due to a job change we moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and had to downsize our yard. We are transitioning her to an inside/outside dog. She is trained to underground electric fence. She sleeps in laundry room at night. She loves to run, chase anything. She LOVES her family, she wants to be with us all the time, she is just so big and doesn't really understand her size. She is very alert, a very good watch dog, has a very loud bark. I want this to work so bad but the change in environment has been a challenge. I am exerting more energy and effort trying to make her happy than I am with my kids. This new arrangement isn't sustainable. She needs to be a family pet, not just an outside dog because she loves being with people. She must have a huge, contained yard. Without containment she will run never to be seen again. I think she would enjoy being with other dogs. She tolerates one of our cats but not the other. She cannot be with animals, other than dogs, smaller than her, I'm not sure what she would do with large livestock. She is spayed and up to date on shots. We will need to Interview any potential families and also visit homes to ensure it will be a good fit. I will only part with her for the absolutely perfect new home.
