Introducing Miss Margarite. She is a sweet, lovable little 6 year old Chihuahua who weighs about 8 pounds. We sprang her from a shelter where she was brought after she was found as a stray and was never claimed. She is a little shy and can take a day or so to warm up to you, but she is very sweet once she feels safe and secure, and will reward your kindness with as much love and loyalty as you can take! She has been starved for attention and all she really wants is somebody to love her as much as she wants to love them. She is in a foster home with several other small dogs right now and she gets on well with all of them. However, as long as she is the center of attention and has a lap to curl up in and a person to dote on her, she doesn't need need another thing so would be fine as an only dog! We feel she would do best with a retired person or somebody that works from home and can spend a lot of time with her. She would not be suitable in a home with small children due to her size. No large dogs either unless they are older and very laid back and can be supervised around her. She's working on her potty training and does well when she is taken out on a regular basis. She loves her bed and likes lots of blankies so she can burrow into them and make them her cave! She has not been tested with cats but, given her temperament, we don't think it would be an issue. Margarite is heartworm positive and has already started treatment. This is nothing to be afraid of and treatment is easy and inexpensive. The adopter must agree to continue this. We follow the slow kill method which requires giving Margarite just one Advantage Multi every month which is the same as the standard monthly preventive treatment for all dogs. The rescue will pay for retesting after 6 months or until she tests negative. Margarite deserves a second chance at life and she is going to make some lucky person a wonderful companion. If you think she might be the one for you, why not come and meet this sweet girl.
Applicants must live with in a two hour drive of Pensacola, FL. to even be considered.
