About NYX & TOBIE GIRL

Adoption Fee: $1000
German Shepherd
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

NYX was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. NYX is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 August 2018 and at the time of rescue at the beginning of December 2018 weighed around 22.70 pounds, but she will obviously gain weight as she grows. She is listed as a German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. NYX is extremely bonded with who we think is most likely her mother, TOBIE-GIRL and after a few weeks at the rescue I decided to split them up to try and get them used to being apart from each other. NYX stayed downstairs with all the dogs she and Tobie-Girl have been with since being at the rescue and I brought Tobie-Girl up into the house. After several hours Tobie-girl had not stopped pacing, trying to get back to where she came from and the cries from Nyx downstairs was heartbreaking. I kept them apart for a day hoping that the distraction of being with all the other dogs would help, however, both dogs continued to be extremely stressed to the point where I decided to keep them together and adopt them as a bonded pair. I brought NYX up into the house and both her and Tobie-girl were so excited to be reunited. It has been almost a month since they have been together in the house with all the other dogs and still both are very close. They sleep together or very close to each other, whilst they play with the other dogs, they always end up playing together and they truly have a strong bond that I do not feel fair or needed to break. Both girls are almost house-trained, I do have pee-pads in the house with having small puppies and Nyx sometimes uses those, but is learning to use the dog door. Initially Tobie-girl wasn't going outside at all, but I think that was more from being over-whelmed with all the dogs and being apart from Nyx. Since they are both in the house together they have been going outside to do their business much more. I would expect some accidents due to the change and they won't know to let you know they need to go outside, but this is common and to be expected with rescue dogs and an understanding family is extremely important. Since we are looking to adopt the girls together, we are looking for a family that has the means and the lifestyle to care for and provide for both of them. Tobie-girl is a mellow, gentle girl, well mannered and very loving. Nyx is approaching the crazy teens, but loves to climb up on my lap and snuggle as much as she can. Tobie-Girl does keep her in check but she just needs to go through basic training and learn the new families rules, expectations and boundaries. Both girls are high energy and will need an active life-style. Going on adventures, hikes, treks, walks and of course road trips for new adventures. We do not recommend dog parks especially with him being so young for several months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. We do NOT have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment how they will behave in or around them. All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Since both dogs must be adopted together there is a reduced adoption fee of US$1,000 for both Nyx and Tobie-Girl. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.
