Introducing Duchess! We like to have fun with names when we get a momma and babies in at the rescue and this time we went with a royal theme! Duchess came to us from a shelter in Mississippi with her 4 sweet girls, Queen Elizabeth and the Princesses Meghan, Diana and Fergie! They were born the day before Thanksgiving and will be ready for adoption by January 12. Duchess is a Miniature Pinscher mix who is 1-2 years old and weighs 19 pounds. She is very shy and guarded at first. We get the impression she is not used to being touched by people in a positive way but she warms up very quickly when she feels safe. She just needs a little time and space to get there. Once she settles she is very loving and lots of fun. She was recently adopted but returned through no fault of her own. She did not settle in fast enough although we feel that 24 hours wasn't really long enough for her to do that and up to a week would be a much more realistic time frame. She loves everyone she meets, big or small and does great with kids! Her favorite thing to play with is socks, so don't leave them on the floor or she will steal them! Duchess is house trained and uses the dog door at her foster mom's like a champ, so she must have been a pet at some stage. She gets on OK with other dogs but has not been tested with cats. Once her puppies are weaned, she will be spayed, have all her shots up to date and be microchipped with a lifetime registration. All she needs now is you!
