About Gunny

Adoption Fee: $250.00
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

3 yr old male german shepherd/malinois mix- not neutered. Hi level of energy will calm down but likes to run in the back yard a lot. Plays fetch- Knows commands, SIT, lay down and working on roll over. Dog has not been socialized much at all barks aggressively but has never bitten anyone or anything aggressive- he seems to only bark when some one comes on the property or in the house- he has been taken to the vet and did not bark at all just layed down quietly didn't get aggressive or even growl. I personally just find the barking when some one comes over aggressive my husband thinks its territorial issue. Has been around small children once- Barked at them but the three year old said sit down and he did listen to her just kept barking could not tell if aggressive / excited . I haven't been able to get him out around people much. He has never seen anything but dogs- hates squirrels and butterflies. has done well with the other two dogs both female small breed mix mutts. The older female keeps attacking him / becoming extremely aggressive she will bite and claw him or chase and attack him he has NEVER bitten, turned on her or even growled at her so I don't think he is dominant in that regard. He takes commands from female owner if she is extremely firm with him but will NOT listen well to male owner- and just wants to play everytime he tells him to do something. He will SIT for the male and lay down but constantly jumps up on him. He knows the male owner will play with him so gets pretty rowdy. not socialized- but has been to vet without issue needs rabies shots- utd on others , distemper etc. had round of puppy shots and de-worming when first brought home. I personally would not trust him with small children/ children/ babies my husband would and just says he's barking because he's excited or curious. We can't tell if he is aggressive or just under socialized . He plays well with the other dogs even when the one female attacks him constantly he will just whimper off and go lay down. Does not chew - but needs treats/ bones etc to keep him busy. Loves to play fetch/ catch and tug of war. very headstrong, will need an owner used to german shepherd personality or that has lots of energy. semi- potty trained- he goes outside but if we are gone for a while if hes got to go he will. He will go to cage if you hold up a dog treat and say 'Cage'-- but as soon as the treat is gone he will sit and cry and get him self worked up to the point of literal moaning. I can not manage the dogs size on my own- husband and my schedule has changed to extremely long days. Husband went from days to nights and can't help us much anymore. His size is a big problem he thinks hes a lap dog and can easily bulldoze over you. He has been able to roam around freely in the back yard but is an inside dog. He will sit on a tether or be roaming free without issue but will only play outside unattended for about an hour then he wants back in. If he had another big dog and backyard to play in I think hed be fine. He is extremely needy and wants company constantly. so he does not do well left alone outside ...if he knows you are in side. He will cry until you come play. Does not get into trash, toilet or chew any items. Did leave mother way too soon so has a little bit of bite issues meaning he plays a little too rough but doesn't full on bite you- he will bite your hand (buy placing his teeth over your hand without pressure) if he isn't done getting petted. Will take a bath perfectly fine, will let me clip his toe-nails -has never been to a professional groomer though. Not enough time, energy for him , our schedules are all over the place and extremely long hours- trying to find a home ASAP before he goes to shelter they most likely will put him down since he hasn't been socialized much. I know he will bark on our property/ in our house but as I said when we took him out of his element and brought to vet he just sat down quietly so he may not be aggressive, I personally am just leary of the barking. My husband and other family members don't see any issue with it. This guy can be super sweet but definitely head strong if he wants to play he wants to play. Best for no cats/ children or small babies/toddlers. Will need to bring him to some one as he does seem aggressive if you are at our home and he doesn't know you. I can provide several photos and video of him- Name is GUNNY....
