About Avery

Meet Avery!! Avery is believed to be a year old boxer mix. Avery is a foster at the sanctuary because she needed a bit of training. It's been a month since she has been here and she's doing fantastic. Daily stimulation and exercise has done wonders for her. She is active, but not hyper. She's playful and learning to play on her own with her toys without destroying them. She is crate trained and house broken. I feel Avery would do just fine with older children. Avery is very well trained. She knows all her basic commands: sit, stay, leave it, wait, come, go to place/bed and won't touch her food unless given the okay (release). She is muzzle trained and we are doing good with leash training. Avery has not had the best experience with dogs. Poor socialization, lack of proper experience, and, in fact poor experiences, are why she struggles to interact with other dogs; but we are working on that. We are desensitizing her and working with impulse control. Avery needs a committed owner(s) who will continue to build her confidence and mold her into the dog she is meant to be. She needs a fully secure, 6ft fenced in yard, and an active owner who will continue to work with her, and continue to expose her to positive experiences. Interested in Avery?
