About Maizy

Hello, my name is Maizy. I am a 6 year old female Yorkie who is tan/gray in color and weighs 12 lbs. I'm so glad to be listed here on the website for adoption. It seems like I have been waiting forever! I came into PPR as an owner surrender. Puppy Pals was all ready to take me for my spay appointment when I came down with a bladder infection. My spay was postponed and I was put on medications. Then�'�| I went into heat. The rescue vet prefers that a number of weeks pass after the heat cycle completes before being spayed. These things led to months for me waiting to be ready for adoption. Finally, the weeks passed and I was ready for that spay appointment! While I was being spayed the vet noticed a small growth on the side of my chest which was repaired. I'm happy to say that I am more than fully recovered from all these things. All of my shots have been updated, I have been micro-chipped and have been groomed a few times and now�'�| I'm ready for my new life to begin! I was just told that I'm going to be the PPR 'Dog of the Month' for January, 2019. Watch me on Fox45 at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9th! My favorite thing is cuddling up on a lap or on a nice cozy chair. I came into PPR very timid and wouldn't even look you in the eye. I am now playing with toys and with the other foster dogs here and I am holding my own. I just love to enjoy life and have fun. I am very polite because I wait my turn when it comes to handing out special treats or surprises. One of the dogs here can catch a treat in the air - I really try hard, but haven't been successful yet. My foster dad does laugh at me, but gives me praise for trying. I also do very well at the groomers. My breed normally needs to be professionally groomed about every 6-8 weeks depending on the season. My crate-training has gone very well. I do well on the leash. As for house-training, I continue to have a few accidents so I will need continued training. I will go outside when taken out to potty. I need to learn the routine at your house. Because of this, I might be best suited for someone who is retired or works from home and is around most of the time. My ideal home would be with an older person or couple. A fenced in yard is required. I'm not sure how I am around children or cats. I think I'd prefer a quieter environment - possibly with another fur-companion?
