About Hendrix

American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

When you look at this handsome and happy guy, it's hard to believe our hearts are breaking for him, but this courageous and special dog really needs to find a loving and caring home soon. Please meet a huge volunteer and staff favorite named Hendrix. Hendrix came to PACC nearly five months ago when his family could no longer keep him. He's always been a little overwhelmed living in the shelter (and who can blame him) so it's remarkable that he has been able to keep his sweet attitude and friendly disposition as long as he has. Volunteers say he welcomes affection, likes to be petted, knows how to sit, is well mannered, has good energy, and he absolutely loves treats and takes them so gently. Hendrix is also very unique and has a trademark move of getting up on the benches and tables while out on walks at the park and then, of course, once he's up there he has to cover you with kisses. Hendrix adores the company of his human friends but he's not very comfortable around other dogs and prefers to be his own dog. He has always been great on a leash and has always looked forward to walks. Recently, however, he has declined significantly. He has a painful arthritic limp that medication is not helping and has become reactive even around some of his friends. The stress of shelter life has gotten to him and he is spiraling. He will need someone experienced in behavior and committed to saving his life. He has deteriorated in the shelter and now needs some serious emotional rehab. Hendrix really needs a special someone to give him the personal attention and care he deserves. He desperately wants a person he can be a loyal and loving companion to. Please consider rescuing this brave guy.
