A Home visit as well as a reference check MUST be completed before a meet & greet.? Scrappy Welsh Teriier mix/ what he is mixed with unknown, 4 years old. Neutered, roughly 18.2 lbs. Scrappy the biggest sweetheart of a little man ended up in a kill shelter in CA, it breaks your heart to think of him being there & seeing him there did break our hearts & we were not leaving him there. His skin & fur was an absolute horrible mess, his skin was flaky with scabs on it, he had dermatitis as well as yeast on his skin & it was going to take time with medicated baths & antibiotics to get his skin & fur back into good shape before this little man could be put under safely to have his dental. It was also quickly discovered poor Scrappy had mats that had to be shaved down & in those deep, deep mats he had fleas. Poor him. Scrappy was from a kill shelter in CA & we rescued him & got him to our vets in CA & then bought him back to WA to our vets here where all of his medical was taken care of & this little man is looking for a loving family who has another dog in the home for him to play with, he enjoys the company of other dogs so this is a requirement in his new forever home along with toys & blankets for him to snuggle in. Scrappy is a neutered male Welsh mix, what he is mixed with we do not know. He weighs roughly 18.2 lbs, neutered, is up to date on his shots, heart worm negative, chipped, loves all other dogs, great with people & just had a dental. Scrappy's foster mum & dad said he is oh so very sweet and loving, enjoys being brushed, is well behaved for his baths, skin is much improved and hair is growing back in. Loves going for walks and car rides. Working on manners like not jumping on people. Is very playful with toys yet loves to nap and cuddle. Loves to play fetch indoors. Still hesitant about outside but getting better. Starting to explore. If raining or dark we carry him out to the yard, he does his business then is ready to go back in. Eats well, mild resource guarding with high value treats. Sleeps on the bed with his foster mum & dad & likes to be covered up with the blankets. Scrappy has now been with 2 different foster homes & in both foster homes Scrappy has been the same lovable little character. In his current home his foster dad was sick but wanted to share his love with him & snuggled up with him while he was sick so Scrappy is the biggest sweetheart. Scrappy has spent time with little girls & did really well with them but does not do well with some little boys, so we recommend a home now with no children. Scrappy has been around cats since being in the rescue in his new foster home & does fine but it's always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have had him around small children so a home with no children is best for Scrappy. We do not know for sure what breed Scrappy is mixed with & it's always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Scrappy friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. If you are looking for a potty trained dog our rescue would never say that about any of these precious souls are potty trained. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training will in fact take them to training. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Scrappy & going through the process and have read her listing fully to the end & are interested in adopting. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a home visit followed by a meet and greet & if it's a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Scrappy that meet all the requirements for this adorable little fellow. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
