Meet Marley You've heard of Marley and me together forever... well that doesn't seem to be the case for our sweet sweet Marley. We don't understand how this beautiful and regal dog has been let down by people so many times. And, every time her owners walk away from her, she picks herself back up and hopes maybe her next family will be true to their word. Marley's story is truly heart-breaking and it's even hard to write because the disappointment Marley feels is palpable, but her forgiveness is to behold. Marley is about four years old now. She's a Catahoula/bulldog mix. She's calm, house-broken, gentle and oh so sweet, which makes her story that much harder. Marley came to our shelter as an eight week old pudgy puppy in Feb. 2015. Cute as a button, Marley spent months watching her siblings leave her one-by-one as they found their forever homes. Eventually, Marley found her family...twice. After two short period adoptions, Marley found herself once again back at the shelter when she was 16 months of age, through no fault of her own. You see, these first two families didn't have time for Marley, and Marley became expendable. This rejection took a toll on Marley and when she was returned in February 16, 2016, she stopped trying. Instead she spent the next 1.5 years in the care of our shelter gamely joining other dogs to play and welcoming walks and attention, but she stopped hoping that she'd get her own family. That is until a young family wouldn't give up on her. Marley finally started hoping again. After 1.5 years at the shelter in July 2017, Marley cautiously thought she might be loved, she might get a comfy bed, and she might leave the noise and confines of the kennel behind...and she did! We thought it was truly a miracle. We couldn't have been happier for our Marley girl. Oh but life can be cruel... after experiencing nearly 1.5 years in the love of her new family and with a BFF doggie friend, once again Marley finds herself expendable. Her family said they didn't have time for Marley after all and our pretty girl was recently returned...AGAIN! This time, it's nearly broken her. You can feel the dejection and rejection into the depths of her soul. She's done nothing wrong, she just seems to be the dog that is easily let go of when life gets busy. Now Marley is once again in the confines of a shelter and to make matters worse her BFF was ripped away from her and she's all alone. We just don't get it. Marley is the quintessential family dog that doesn't ask for much...maybe that's the problem. She's unassuming. She's accepting. She just fits in without fuss or muss. Marley has it all, except someone to love her and cherish her and keep her safe. If you are looking for a perfect dog, and we mean perfect, to welcome into your family, come meet our Marley. She could sure use a friend right about now. Marley is spayed, fully vetted and current on vaccinations.
