About Riley

Meet Riley! This girl is our 'special needs' pup who is in search of a foster or adoptive home. She came to us from a bad situation back in December 2018, in which she had been locked in a basement 24/7. Prior to that environment, she was on the euthanasia list at the Stark County Dog Pound. Our sweet Riley has not had it easy, that is for sure! When she came to us, we immediately noticed that she had some inappropriate mouthing behaviors and general anxiety. To help understand her better, we made an appointment at Ohio State Veterinary Behavioral Medicine where she was evaluated by an awesome doctor that gave us a much clearer idea of what kind of home Riley needs to live her happiest life. She also provided us with lots of information on how to manage and treat Riley's anxiety and mouthy behavior. Here is a description of the kind of home Riley is looking for: Riley would do best in an only animal home, with a 6ft fence, with a behavior savvy/experienced owner with a fair amount of free time. She should also be in a home without children residents or visiting. Additional family members should be willing to continue her behavior management including rechecks, behavior modification visits, and training at home and with a positive reinforcement trainer especially if not near-by.
