About Buster

Adoption Fee: $10
Jack Russell
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Buster has been a good dog until recently, he has bitten my small children twice in the last year. Neither attack was provoked. He did not draw blood, but left a mark and the children were left screaming after the incident on both occasions. I've had him since he was a puppy. He would be great for a family with older kids (8+ years) Pros: He is house trained. He can do some fun tricks like jump through hula hoops, roll over, shake, speak, sit, etc. He is affectionate and loves attention from adults and older children. He is a great watch dog and will notify you if there is anyone at or near your door. Cons: he is not good with small children. He barks. A lot. At all your guests when they enter your home. Jack Russell's are hunting dogs bred for flushing out foxes by baying, so he will chase and bark after any small rodent type animal he sees, this especially includes cats. If he sees a cat, his instinct is to bark and chase it. He's never killed one as far as I know. He has separation anxiety. He will bark 90% of the time while he's in his kennel. I've never been able to figure out how to train him to not bark while kennelled. He is 14 years old. His hairs are graying, he is slowing down (although since Jack Russell's are naturally energetic, he still has lots of spring in his step compared to other dogs his age). He often has to go outside in the middle of the night because his bladder is getting old. The last time we took him to the vet they said his liver was showing signs of having problems. Our last vet bill was $700 because he had to have 3 teeth extracted. (First time in 14 years, so his teeth have lasted pretty good!) Ok, so...after that full disclosure....any takers? Anybody out there want to save a mostly sweet old dog from imminent demise?
