About Mason

Adoption Fee: $150
German Shepherd mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Mason just turned 7 years old this October and probably weighs anywhere from 75-85 pounds (he's bulked up for winter right now). We adopted/rescued him as a puppy (8 weeks old) in December of 2011. He is a very loyal and lovable dog, full of life and so energetic! However, we got him for our 3 toddler boys who have grown with him & We now have a 2 year old and 4 month old in addition and Mason has not accepted them very well after only being him and his boys for so long. Mason needs to be in an active and outdoorsy household, something I am not able to provide him anymore. He needs to be with a family of no children or OLDER children, as he has begun nipping as the toddler walks by. He's also snapped at his boys now. Mason is peeing on all of the baby's belongings and dresser and I cannot supervise him 24/7. It's not fair for him to be kenneled when I'm not there to follow him around. He IS crate trained and potty trained outside of the new marking behaviors. He will sleep at the foot of the bed HAPPILY or in his kennel just fine. With a blanket to suck on though! He is a mega kisser and has so much love to give! Mason just needs more attention than we can provide now. Mason is neutered. He was hit by a car January of 2013 when he escaped the front door as a young pup, and has a metal rod in his front left leg. He healed fully from the accident physically. His temperament could very well be affected though by the accident, which would explain as he ages, the more protective and somewhat agitated he gets. We love him so much and want to see him go to a family that can meet all his needs and invest a lot of love and time with him. He does EXCELLENT with other dogs, cats take him a few days to get used to but he gets used to them with no bother. He is used to having a yard and a companion and has been off leash trained but needs some practice with anyone new. He is VERY protective once he developed trust and loyalty to you! There will be re-homing fee & a home check to ensure he truly is going to a family who will care for him and love him fully!
