About Sam

Lab mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hello. My name is Sam. I am a mid-aged gentleman of about 6 years old. I've gone through some rough patches in my life. I was rescued from a hoarding situation in Kentucky a few years ago. Safe Haven brought me up to IL where I've been living with a wonderful foster family. Due to my past, I have some special needs. I prefer a quieter home. My ideal family would be an older couple with no kids or adult kids, little kids are just too overwhelming for me. I attach more easily to women. Men are okay too, it just takes me longer to trust them. I enjoy the company of other dogs, but am not interested in playing with them too much. I currently live with adults, 4 other dogs and a cat. I'm 65 lbs and my vet recently suggested I need to lose some weight. So my foster has been walking me in the park, which I enjoy. I am VERY loyal dog and am attached to my foster family, which means I can attach to you too. It will just take time. I really need to make sure you're the right family for me. We might have to meet a few times before I go home with you. But if we're the right fit, I'll be your loyal companion for life. My favorite thing to do is snuggle up with my foster mom and dad when they are on the couch. When it's time for bed I go right to my crate. I am 100% house trained. I love car rides, especially when we end up at the forest preserve where I can take a nice long walk with you. Contact my people to set up a first meeting with me. Thanks, Sam Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
