About Mella

Date into Rescue: 10/31/2018 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, unable to handle medications needed for Addison's disease Special Needs: Mella has Addison's disease, which is caused by a less-than-normal production of hormones; however, Addison's is manageable with medication. What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner. Mella needs to be the only dog in the home. Prednisone, one of the drugs that is necessary for Mella to survive, is having an adverse affect on her personality. We need someone who can help Mella by understanding Addison's and working to get her prednisone levels much farther down than they are now. Please no children in the home. What is my personality like: Mella is a sweet girl who would love to be a giant lap dog. She's a smart girl who knows how to sit and shake; and will nudge your hand to ask you to pet her. She is very protective of her humans, and would love to be an only dog. She doesn't get along very well with other dogs, and couldn't care less about cats (she just ignores them). How do I act when I first meet new people: Mella is very friendly towards people. Tips and Tidbits: Mella comes with a crate, collar, leash, bag, food, and other items. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
