About Jake

Beagle / German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Jake! Jake is believed to be a Beagle Shepherd hound mix, about 5 to 7 years old. Poor Jake has a history of irresponsible owners/adopters. Once again, this time in his golden years, he finds himself homeless and at the same shelter, at no fault of his own. But this time not only is he homeless, again, he is also heartworm positive. z A few weeks ago we were asked if we could help as the shelter veterinarian felt due to his age he was not a good candidate for treatment. Their only option was euthanasia if no rescue stepped up. So we stepped up! This ONLY happened because of a great foster home. Look at him now! We are treating Jake's heartworm disease slowly. Yesterday, he visited our vet for a follow up appointment and full physical. Jake is doing great. His fur is beautiful and his ears have cleared up. He has lost a bit of weight (has a bit more to go) and, besides heartworm disease, he's looking great. He's stronger than ever. He's on a quality food strict diet, with lots of TLC, and some extra loving from his foster mom and dad. Jake is available for foster to adopt. He's amazing with children of all ages. In fact, he loves children! He requires a fenced in yard because the beagle in him has a strong nose, and the boxer side of him is very curious. He's good with dogs, but not cats. He loves men but is definitely a momma's boy. Not needy, but always there for cuddles and loving. He is extremely smart, and picks up commands quickly. He (can you tell) is very food motivated. ٪ We will make sure he finally finds his happy forever, and no longer will find himself misplaced, nor bounced around, much less in a shelter.
