About Switzerland (Switzie)

A Brief History of Switzie's Story: Switzie is a pitt bull (not sure if he is a mix or not) that we rescued from the side of the road when he was about 9 months old. At that time, we trained him in basic commands such as sit and stay, and he was also house broken. The change in the pack dynamics with our other two dogs caused them to start fighting, so he and our bloodhound became outside dogs together. Very shortly after we took him in, we very suddenly and unexpectedly became foster parents to a toddler, and his training ceased. Since that time, he has lived with our bloodhound outside. We have since adopted that child and recently had another child, and simply do not have the time to give Switzie the home and training that he needs and deserves. About Switzie: Switzie is currently approximately 4 years old. He is very friendly and loving and enjoys being petted and loved on. He does have high energy, but he is very smart and willing to learn, so I believe a knowledgeable trainer could focus that energy into training. He is very athletic. Other than his basic training, which he still seems to mostly retain, he is a blank slate to work with-no bad habits to get in the way of training him how you would like him to behave. However; I do believe Switzie would do best in a home with no kids and no small pets (preferably an only pet). He has only ever lived with large dogs, and while he has never shown any aggression towards a human, he can get rambunctious when excited. I believe he is around 80 pounds. Switzie is neutered and current on vaccinations. He is good for the vet and good for baths. It breaks my heart to have to re-home him, but I want him to have the life he deserves, not waste away in our backyard.
