About Rusty

This full-of-life cutie is Rusty, a very sweet and playful Chihuahua mix! He is about a year old and weighs approximately 8 pounds. Rusty came to us as a stray from the shelter and he takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once he does, he just wants to give kisses and show you how much he loves you. Rusty was recently adopted but was returned due to no fault of is own. His adopter had underestimated the impact of having an additional puppy in the house and realized it was just too much for their family. He gets along with everyone he meets. Rusty loves loves loves to play with toys and he empties at least one toy basket a day! He is also very smart. He uses the dog door to go outside and has been doing great with housebreaking. He also he walks well on a leash. When he's done playing he gets right in his foster mom's lap to curl up and go to sleep. He will sleep in his bed without a sound all night but prefers to sleep in the big bed if he can. He likes to get under the covers and once he is snuggled up next to his person, he is good for the night. Due to his small size a home without younger children is recommended and because he has lots of energy, a fenced yard is required for this little guy so he can run around in safety!
