About Ruby

Ruby is fostered in Lakeland, FL (Polk County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families. Ruby is an Australian cattle dog mix pup of about 6 months. She is about 24 lbs, so she should top out as a medium-sized adult. She is high drive and high energy, and would do best in a highly active or performance home. She has a lot of tug and ball drive, good frisbee drive, walks nicely on lead and nonreactive. She doesn't quite get frisbee yet, but will launch in the air and do aerial acrobatics to get a ball or tug, so she will make a nice disc prospect. She also seems to like water. We will strongly prefer a performance home for this girl. She does need a fenced yard in her adoptive home. Ruby is very intelligent, curious, and learns quickly. She is super fast and we cannot emphasize her sports potential enough! Ruby is still very much a herding dog puppy and as such we will not adopt her to a home with young children. She is very bold, but will submit to the dogs in her foster home without question. She loves to be with her people and accompany her foster dad while he works on things in the shop. Ruby is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm-free.
