About Jonnie

Jonnie is living the good life in his foster home! This little guy has had QUITE the journey. As a stray, he roamed the streets, never knowing where to find his next meal. Thankfully, he was scooped up and brought to animal control. He was so grateful for a warm bed and steady meals! But, when his family didn't show to claim him and no adopters showed interest, Jonnie's life was yet again in danger. A crowded southern California animal shelter is a death sentence for a Chihuahua. For every adopter that walks in looking for a new pet, there are 10 dogs in need of immediate rescue. Most of these helpless souls are Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls. When a shelter runs out of room, perfectly healthy dogs get euthanized. That's where rescues like ours step in. Jonnie was pulled by our west coast rescue partners, received veterinary care, and loaded on a ground transport with several other animals we commited to take into our rescue. As most of our followers know, Jonnie slipped his collar during a pit-stop in Tennessee and once again became a stray! After a harrowing week on the run, Jonnie was finally caught. To make a long story short, the transporting company was uncooperative and our director had to fly to TN to retrieve our little guy and bring him to his foster home in Virginia Beach. Now that he's had a chance to acclimate, Jonnie has begun to let his personality shine. Slow to trust new people, Jonnie is a total LOVE once he trusts you. This guy is all tail wags, belly rubs, and kisses. He loves to love and be loved!! Due to his timid nature, a home without small kids is best. He is housetrained and gets along well with other animals. Jonnie is only 2 years old, is healthy, and is blind in one eye. Will you be the person to change his life forever?
