About ORSON

Adoption Fee: $550
German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

ORSON was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. ORSON is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 8 November 2011 and at the time of rescue at the beginning of December 2018 weighed around 69.00 pounds. He is listed as a German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely is. ORSON is a big handsome hunk of a German Shepherd Dog, who at the estimated age of just over 7 years he is going strong and looking great. ORSON has clearly had some bad times in his past as in his kennel he acts like he is King Kong, he will be vocal, he picks up his elevated dog bed and throws it down, he doesn't destroy as in chew or pull anything apart, he just likes to show his masculinity off. When he is out of the kennel it is a different story, he is very wary and somewhat nervous. If when he is walking past the other dogs kennels and they bark, he will run back into his kennel. He does use the dog door to go in and out to play or to do his business, he might not let his new family know he wants to go out, so a few accidents should be expected whilst he transitions to his new life. I decided to move him into a large pen inside the trustee room and double him up with Da-Boa who he has been living next door to and most likely the cause of him showing off, lifting up his bed and such lol. I had to almost drag him past the kennels but when again in a secure area, he became full of confidence and he loves sharing with DaBoa. I haven't taken ORSON out anywhere so can't say how he is in other environments, I would imagine he will be somewhat a little unsure until he is confident in his surroundings and with his new family. He is a big boy and will need to be kept entertained, both physically and mentally, he is very affectionate and loving and with an active life-style a home with a routine, a safe, secure environment and of course a whole lot of love he would be the perfect family addition. I do not know how he will be around cats and livestock. All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
