About TUKS

TUKS was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. TUKS is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2018 and at the time of rescue at the beginning of December 2018 weighed around 15.40 pounds. He is listed as a Pug /Lab Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. TUKS is living in the house with 20 other dogs ranging from 6 pound chihuahua's up to 120 pound German Shepherds and he gets on great with them all. He loves to play and chase with the other dogs, play with the toys and then chill out either on the sofa or a dog bed with the other dogs. TUKS has not had any kind of training so he will need leash and obedience training, however, he is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train with proper techniques and continuity. TUKS rides great in the car and is very friendly with everyone he meets. He has met a friends young teenage granddaughter and was great with her. TUKS is young and active so we are looking for an active family for him. He is a medium sized dog and still has maybe a little more growing to do, but I would not think much more. He does use the dog door to go out and play and do his business but does not know to let his family know he needs to go outside. I do not what he will be around cats or livestock, although since he is young it is a great time to expose and desensitize him to them if he has any kind of curiosity. TUKS would be great for a family looking for a medium/small sized dog, one to go on adventures with them and to cuddle up at night or on lazy days. All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
