About Maui

Adoption Fee: $200
Pekingese mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is Maui. He is a 4-5 year old male Pekingese whose owner could not give him the attention and proper care he desperately needed & deserves. He had a problem with both of his rear legs so we had Southeastern Vet Hospital do an exam and X-Ray. They did not observe any broken bones or damage, so it may be something neurological or even a pinched nerve or disc. They administered a steroid injection and we are hoping to see improvement in his walking by the end of this week. Today he did show some promising signs of improvement standing and walking correctly. We will post a new video on our Facebook page as soon as possible to show his progress. Because of his back issue, It would be best if Maui went to an adopter's home who has experience with this breed and no young children or larger active dogs that might unknowingly complicate his ailment. Unfortunately he has also tested positive for heart-worm so he will need to stay on Heart Guard and tested every 6 months to 1 year to monitor hos progress. Maui appears to be a Pekingese mix, is approx. 4 years old, weighs approx. 13.5 pounds, is up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, and will be neutered on 12/18. He is very sweet, good with cats and ready for a loving fur-ever home. He would make anyone a great loyal and faithful companion. His adoption fee is $200. His ID is DM1812002. An application is available by clicking on the following link http://www.robesonhumanesociety.org/images/Adoption_Application_2015.doc You can email it back to us at [email protected], or fax it to 910-738-8685. All animals at RCHS are up to date on vaccinations, tested for Felv/Fiv, heart worm and treated if positive, de-wormed and spayed or neutered if over the age of 6 months. If they are younger than 6 months, the adopter receives a voucher that is good at any vet and covers a portion of the procedure.
