About Biggie

Adoption Fee: $200
Mastiff
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Biggie was in an Animal Shelter and a plea come out for a Foster, as he was regressing in that setting. We agreed to foster but fell in love, thinking we could 'love it out of him'. Now it is clear to us that we are way over our heads. Never having any contact with the Mastiff breed, we knew nothing about them. Biggie was obviously abused by his previous owners. He cowers when plastic bags or laundry towels are shaken out. He does not like his hindquarters or back legs/feet touched when he sleeps. He gets very anxious/nervous when there is a lot of commotion or loud noises are around him. He does not like strangers and we have learned through plenty of errors that he must be introduced slowly to others with no eye contact and ignoring him. Treats are always a plus for getting him to come around. Once he gets to know someone over time, he is very happy to see his friends. If you are 'his people' he will love you, protect you and be so incredibly sweet to you. He loves his 'babies' and usually carries one around in his mouth and will always greet you at the door with one. He is truly a sweetheart. He can sit, shake, get back, knows 'off' and 'down' vocally and with hand signals. He loves walks with a harness and gentle leader. He is 135 pounds. He would do well in a home with a single person or couple with no little ones running around and not very many visitors/strangers coming around. If he could be on a farm with acreage or some fenced in land he would be so happy. We want the very best for this big lug and know that our situation is not what he needs. Also, Mastiff experience is a definite plus. Again, we are lacking here. We have a 55 pound female Boxer who completely dominates him. He let's her sit on him, chew on him, etc until he has had enough and then he will give her a warning but has never hurt her. He is not food aggressive.
