If you're looking for an aloof romantic hero like Mr. Darcy, you're looking in the wrong place. Hi, I'm Darcy, and I am a sociable, warm, and friendly Cattle Dog mix looking for my forever home. Augusta Dog Adoptions scooped me up from a rural kill shelter and let me tell you, they did not expect 11 puppies out of me the very next day! All of my pups have found their forever home, so I'm hoping that the world doesn't forget about me and I get to find my family before Christmas. I am between 2 and 3 years old and I weigh around 35 pounds now that I'm not hauling 11 pups around. Prepare to be impressed; I come house-trained, leash-trained, and crate-trained! You don't even need to crate me because I'm not destructive at all. Kids and other dogs are my most favorite things and I'm really hoping to find a home where I can run and play with another dog. I'm pretty indifferent to cats so far, but if you want an official cat test, you should contact Augusta Dog Adoptions and let them know. My foster describes my temperament as average and says my energy level is high; that just means you will need to give me some kind of exercise every day to keep me happy and healthy. When I came here from the shelter, I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases (Lyme and Ehrlichia) and I am currently being treated for those. Fear not, those are easy to kick at my young age and my adoption includes my medication. Just roll it up in some cheese and I'll pretend I'm none the wiser! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
