About Sonny

This is Sonny. He is going to make someone a 'once-in-a-lifetime' kind of dog! He is full of joy, brightens up any spot he's in and is extremely intelligent. He is currently in formal obedience training where he's quickly learned good leash skills, sit, stay, and working on recall commands. If adopted before these classes end, they will convey to his new pet parent so he can complete the course. Sonny would make a fantastic agility and/or therapy dog - he's got the perfect blend of intelligence, athleticism, and personality. He's also a sweet love bug - he loves to lay on the couch and get kisses and tummy rubs and just snuggle. He is house-trained, crate-trained, loves a lot of exercise and long, brisk walks. He sleeps in his crate at night and if his foster mom needs to run errands, he is allowed to stay out with full run of the house- he does not tear anything up, as long as shoes are kept out of reach. He's wonderful with small and large dogs - has two small, 15-lb dogs and a 30-lb puppy at his foster mom's and he's adored by all of them. He has play dates with a friend's dogs who are 80 and 100 lbs respectively and does great with them as well and can match their play level. There are not cats at his foster's house but he has been cat-tested at the shelter and did great with them. He's great with children and enjoys playing with them. Due to his size, 50 lbs, and athleticism, his foster mom recommends him being with children 8 years of age or older. She thinks the ideal home would be where there is another dog he can play with, an active family/pet parent who will ensure he receives needed exercise, and children 8 years of age or older.
