About Barry

Barry is a great Pyrenees mix who was dumped in rural Arkansas. It was very clear when he was found that he had an injury keeping him from using his back leg. He seemed to walk on three legs very well so it make his rescuers believe that it was old injury. We worked to get him to CO for further testing and to eventually find him a forever home here in CO. Once he got here to CO, and was able to see a vet, it was determined that his injury was in fact old, and it was a dislocated hip and broken leg. The best course of treatment was to amputate the back leg since he was already walking fine without using it. It has been over 2 months since his surgery and Barry is a the happiest 3 legged dog ever. He really truly is a gentle giant and is now ready to find his forever home. He gets along great with all animals, loves to be the daddy to other foster puppies in his home, and is very easy going with all the other farm animals he encounters. He is truly an angel as his foster mom says. Barry does seem to have a little separation anxiety, which makes complete sense since he was abandoned in a random field. He is doing so much better now that he knows his foster Momma wont abandon him, but he would love to be in a home with someone who has a lot of time to spend with him. A stay at home mom or dad, or someone who can take their dog to work etc. He would be a great hiking partner for someone since having three legs doesn't seem to hold him back at all. His foster Mom loves him a ton, so we will be incredibly picky making sure the home we find for him really truly is the best match for him.
