BIO ON KHOLLER 2 YEAR OLD ENGLISH LAB MIX MALE, 50 POUNDS FOUND IN WACO, TEXAS July 24, 2018: Neutered; Rabie Shot (1 year) and Heartworm Test Negative August 3, 2018: Bordetella, DA2PP Microchip by Home Again Sometimes you don't even have to leave your front yard to find an animal in need. In July, 2018 there was a young man walking this handsome black dog. Waco's temperature was is in the high 90's and I was concerned about the dog's pads. So I nicely went over to the guy and bent down to see if the asphalt was too hot. I shared that he could bring his dog into my yard. As we started talking he shared his dilemma. About a year ago he was in North Waco and saw a very skinny starving black young dog in a vacant lot. The guy had some beef jerky and shared with the dog. Of course the dog (Kholler) started following him to his car. This young gentleman is a special education teacher and he had applied for a job in the People's Republic of China. He was awarded the position and told me that he would be leaving in about a month and was having trouble finding Kholler a home. He did not want to take Kholler to the Humane Society or Fuzzy Friends. I started asking questions about Kholler. The young gentleman had never taken Kholler to the vet, so Kholler had not been examined or received vaccinations; he was not neutered and was not on heartworm preventative. I also noticed that Kholler occasionally was lifting back right leg when walking. The young gentleman said he was that way when he found him. Kholler was an outside dog. So basically he fed him and took him for walks. Pop's Legacy took responsibility of Kholler and I am his foster parent (Adelia Williams). Of course we took him straight to the vet about his leg issue. Kholler had apparently been hit by a car and had never received medical attention. The vet stated that Kholler had probably been in pain all this time. On August 30, 2018 Kholler had hip area surgery at Animal Hospital of Waco, 2501 LaSalle Ave phone# 254/753-0101. Surgery was performed by Dr. Barney Rafferty. Our cost was around $1,700. Kholler mended very well and runs so happily. He still lifts his legs at times but he has full use of the leg. AND NO MORE PAIN! FOSTERING: I personally have five dogs and an old cat. Four of my dogs are less than 15 pounds and one dog is around 50 pounds. Kholler gets along very well with my animals and does not have food issues, but you do need to watch with a special treat. But at dinner time I put food in five bowls and there has never been a fight at dinner. My cat is over 18 years old. I have never let him have 'free range' with my cat. My cat stays mostly in my bedroom and several times Kholler has jumped on the bed and laid beside her. But if there are cats in the family, he will need to be slowly introduced. I have a doggy door that all my animals use. I am 95% sure Kholler is house trained. I don't see him lift his leg and he has never left droppings in my house. Of course if the new owner has dogs, Kholler will want to put his markings in the house. Kholler is a very young dog and loves to play, so at times that is being an issue with my smaller dogs that all getting over 10 years old. My small dogs snap at him a lot. Kholler plays all the time with my 50 pd dog and I think he is wearing out my 8 year old 50 pd dog. For correction, I use a spray water bottle and all I have to do now is just show him the water bottle. He puts his head down. He loves to sleep on the couch and loves to watch TV. He is a cuddlier and will give you a big lick on the face. He is a loveable dog. My issue, I am 67 years old (handicap) and he is very strong and pulls on me when I have him on a leash. I am afraid he is going to pull me down. The young gentleman did not seem to have this issue in walking Kholler. Kholler will also chew up his lease if allowed. Kholler knows what NO means. He may pull folded clothes down to the floor but he never has chewed my clothes. He also will pull paperwork onto the floor but he has not chewed up. Just last week was the first time that Kholler and my big dog broke a rotten wood gate and got out of my backyard. He has only dug one whole in my backyard. I did take Kholler to one of our adoption functions and he for some reason did not like the two dogs that were there and did try to start a fight. First time I had seen this side of him. Kholler needs a man in his world. He does not like caps or the postman (but all my dogs do not like the postman). He is great watch dog and I feel very safe with him in my home. He just needs someone that can walk him and give him more exercise than I am able to give. He loves to ride in the car. HE IS A SWEETHEART Please call Adelia at 254-772-4888 for more details about this wonderful boy!
