About Custer

Vizsla
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Custer is the Vizsla that needs a new home. On December 7th he bit my 5 year old son on the hand as he was telling him to go downstairs and in the way of my son going downstairs. As such my Wife says he has to go and I agree as we have a 1 year old Grandson that is over almost daily. My Wife had him neutered when he was around 9 mos after he walked up and lifted his leg and peed on her! His history of biting is four incidents. He bit me at 6 months old when he found a piece of pizza and I tried to grab it out of his mouth. Since then if he does grab food he will drop it for me with the command 'drop it' and back away. He will not do the same with the kids. The second incident was about 4 years ago when he bit my Wife when she grabbed his collar to move him away from people cleaning our house. The third incident was this summer when my 14 yr old daughter had friends over and they were setting up a tent. Custer went into the tent and one of the girls grabbed his collar and pulled him out of the tent. For me I can give him a left over rib bone and have him drop it in my hand but others in the house can not. He needs a home without children. Being a Vizsla he is very high energy. He is an incredible hunting dog that points and retrieves. He also is very loyal in that he will sit by my feet all day long at work and friendly to everyone. When I take him on walks I don't use a leash and he obeys me if someone is near with the command 'leave it'. Completely house trained to the point of if it is cold outside he'll wait until afternoon to go outside. He hardly ever barks and if he does it for a reason....such as a deer or turkey in our backyard or someone in the yard that should not be. In 2017 a house up the street was burglarized during the day. I work from home and he was upstairs and started barking at around 2 in the afternoon. I came up and told him to be quiet....later that evening we found out that the house two houses up the street was burglarized....hmm. In the end he needs a good home where there are no young children and people that can devote some good attention to him. He'll be happier. I have uploaded photos and his info to my google drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gD3iplK4biaPKO1Mz8sB3lNK5_tzZhp_?usp=sharing Please let me know if you need any further information.
