About Laurel

Little Laurel was just 30 minutes from being euthanized before Low Riders of the West saved her, and now it's nothing but up for this sweet girl. While shy and tentative (for now- we think this will change!), there's a sweetness about this girl that's hard to resist. She has the most expressive eyes and this great spot on her head that her foster mom calls a 'kiss spot, ' because it's the perfect place to give this deserving girl some love. With time and patience, it's apparent that Laurel will blossom into a lovely Colorado companion. She is coming for snuggles, exploring her foster home and yard, and starting to play with other pups! As a rule, heelers (she's definitely at least part if not all heeler), are active, intelligent and highly trainable. Though she'll stay petite (she's 24 lbs now but needs some groceries), she'll be up for all sorts of hikes and adventures as long as her new family gives her the necessary time to adjust and settle into her new safe and happy life. She is currently doing well with both the dogs and cats in her foster home. In fact, the two resident dogs Laurel is currently residing with have been very helpful in her learning that she is now safe, people are good, and generally just how to be a 'dog.' For these reasons, Low Riders feels that it's important that Laurel's furever home have a confident and friendly canine brother or sister for her to play with and learn from.
